Tire Blow Out Injures One Seriously Sunday

Sunday afternoon at 4:45 p.m., Trooper Huston was on patrol on I-94 in Porter County when he drove past a vehicle that had been involved in a crash.  Preliminary investigation by Trooper Huston shows that a Blue 2009 Chevrolet Impala was east bound at the 27 mile-marker traveling in the center lane, following a white 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.  The Impala reportedly sustained a blowout to one of the front tires, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle and rear-ending the truck.  The Impala then left the roadway and struck the concrete median barrier.  The driver of the Impala, Breian L. Boggan, 27, from Michigan City, IN, was transported to Northlake Hospital in Gary with a serious injury.  She was later transferred to a hospital in Chicago.  Ms. Boggan was cited for Driving While Suspended with Prior Conviction- Class A Misdemeanor.  The driver of the Silverado, Noah K. Mahoney, 20, from Valparaiso, IN, refused treatment.

Assisting at the scene was Chesterton Fire/EMS and Trooper Ken Payonk.  The vehicle was towed by Precision Towing.
