Two Suspects In ATM Burglary Nabbed
Two suspects are in custody after a high speed chase originated at the Pines Branch of Porter Bank on US HWY 12, according to Porter Police.
At approximately 11:45 PM on Wednesday May 8th, Porter Police responded to assist the Porter County Sheriff’s Office at the “Pines Bank” concerning an ATM burglary in progress. The first arriving officer from Beverly Shores PD encountered two suspects who fled in a vehicle westbound on US 12 at a high rate of speed.
A Porter Police Officer intercepted the vehicle and continued the chase while a second officer attempted to deploy stop sticks in the area but was unable to do so.
The driver of the suspect vehicle ultimately crashed and rolled over at the intersection of US HWY 12 and Furnessville Road- Porter and Burns Harbor officers then placed a male and female in custody.
Both suspects received medical treatment for injuries sustained as a result of the crash. Both are charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Motor Vehicle (Level 6 Felony) by the PPD. The names of the suspect’s are being withheld at this time while the burglary investigation by the Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
Assisting at the scene was the Porter FD, Chesterton FD, Porter EMS, Joe’s Towing, and Chesterton PD.
