UPDATED – Male Found Partially Burned In Gary After Being Shot
On Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at approximately 8:26 AM Gary Police Officers responded to the 4800 block of west 21st Avenue in regard to a deceased person, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield.
Upon arrival officers met with two concerned citizens who had observed what was believed to be a deceased male in the grassy area. Gary Medics confirmed a male black was in the grassy area with no signs of life, Westerfield said. The male was face down and partially burned. The Lake County Coroner officers officially declared the male deceased on scene.
The Lake County Coroner has since identified the victim using fingerprints. The victim sustained multiple gun shot wounds and the death has been ruled a homicide. The victim has been identified as Andre White, 39, of Gary.
