UPDATE – Hobart Drug Raid Arrest
Update from Hobart Police on the search warrant served at 3793 East 33rd Avenue during the morning hours of February 16, 2022. This stemmed from the culmination of an on-going narcotics investigation that was conducted by the Hobart Police Narcotics Detectives.
As a result of the search warrant, two people were arrested. One suspect has been charged through the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office and has been identified as Zachary B. Childers, 26 years old and he listed his permanent address as 3793 East 33rd Avenue.
Hobart Detectives were able to conduct two controlled purchases of crystal methamphetamine from Childers from his residence on two separate occasions, which totaled 4.3 grams of methamphetamine. Based upon the evidence they gathered during their investigation, the Hobart Detectives applied for search warrant, which was granted by a magistrate.
As a result of the search warrant, approximately 16.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a handgun, packaging materials, meth smoking devices and other suspected controlled substances were recovered from the residence.
Childers has been charged with a Level 2 Felony, Dealing in Methamphetamine, and two Level 5 Felonies, Dealing in Methamphetamine. Additional charges are pending against the second person taken into custody. Childers is being held at the Lake County Jail.
This is still an on-going investigation, additional charges are being considered against Childers by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office and are still under review.
