Driver of Vehicle Succumbs To Injuries In Hammond Crash
Saturday evening around 8:35pm a single vehicle accident occurred on the 1500 block of River Drive, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police. The vehicle appears to have lost control, went up the curb and crashed into a small tree. The driver who was seriously injured according to witnesses told RNS they were performing CPR on scene before taking him to Community Hospital in Munster for treatment. The airbags were deployed in the vehicle. Investigators were still on scene investigating the incident and the drivers condition is currently unknown.
UPDATE – Hammond Police say Tuesday 63 year old Michael Diaz the driver and registered owner has died from his injuries. Alcohol was a factor in this crash according to Kellogg.
