Whiting Police Issue Arrest Warrant After Homes Struck By Bullets
An update on an incident that occurred on November 14, 2021 at approximately 02:38 AM Whiting Police Officers were detailed to the area of the 1900 block of New York Avenue in reference to shots that had been fired. Whiting officers arrived and spoke with homeowners who stated they had heard multiple shots fired in the area.
The following morning, officers were called back to the 1900 block of New York Avenue where they spoke with homeowners who reported bullet holes in their homes. 2 houses and 1 apartment were hit by gunfire with a total of 5 bullets entering the 3 residences.
In the month following the incident, Whiting Detectives investigated the incident. After securing leads and speaking with witnesses and homeowners, charges have been filed.
Whiting Detectives charged Miguel A. Chavez of Chicago, Illinois with 12 total charges.

9 Counts of Level 5 FELONY Criminal Recklessness
3 Counts of A Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief
An arrest warrant has been issued for Miguel A. Chavez.
