Charles Edward Lee, 73,of Gary, is facing multiple felony charges after police say cocaine deals took place in April 2026, leading to a new arrest while he was already facing a drug case filed earlier this month.
According to court documents, a drug investigation revealed that on April 13, 2026, cocaine was sold at an apartment in the 600 block of Jackson Street in Gary. The substance obtained weighed approximately 0.94 grams and field-tested positive for cocaine.
Court records state that following the drug deal, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at the same residence on April 15, 2026. Officers located Charles Edward Lee inside the apartment during the search.
Police reported that inside a bedroom dresser drawer, officers located eleven individually packaged baggies containing a rock-like substance, identified as cocaine, weighing approximately 5.56 grams.
Authorities noted that Lee had previously been charged in a separate case filed April 1, 2026, involving cocaine deals that took place in February and March. Court records show Lee was out on bond in that case at the time of the April 2026 drug deal and subsequent search warrant.
Investigators stated that based on the prior incidents, the recent drug deal, and the packaging of the substances, the cocaine was believed to be possessed with the intent to deliver.
