Riley Hill, 29, of Valparaiso, is facing a felony charge after police said she was found in possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop in Portage.

According to court documents, on April 26, 2026, at approximately 8:56 p.m., an officer with the Chesterton Police Department observed a 2011 Chevrolet Impala near U.S. Highway 20 and Dombey Road. Police reported the vehicle was weaving from side to side, crossing the center line, and failed to come to a complete stop at a flashing red traffic signal.

During the investigation, police noted the vehicle had made a quick turnaround trip into Illinois and that occupants gave conflicting statements about where they had been. Based on those observations, officers developed suspicion of drug activity.

A K9 unit alerted to the front passenger door where Hill was seated. According to the affidavit, Hill was found concealing a clear plastic bag containing a rock crystal substance in her pants. No contraband was located inside the vehicle.

Police stated the substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and was later confirmed as a controlled substance. The amount was reported to be approximately 16.9 grams.

Lodged in the Porter County Jail.
