Brian Michael Oliver, 49, of Gary, has been charged in Lake County with four felony counts related to alleged sexual misconduct involving a minor.  

Court records allege the investigation began on June 2 after Lake County Sheriff’s officers were informed that a teenage girl was allegedly living with Oliver at a trailer in the 4200 block of Massachusetts Street in Gary. Investigators allege the girl was 15 years old and had been involved in a sexual relationship with Oliver.  

According to the probable cause affidavit, detectives obtained and searched the girl’s cellphone, where they allegedly found multiple videos showing Oliver and the juvenile engaged in sexual activity. Investigators also reviewed recorded jail communications in which Oliver allegedly referred to the girl as “baby” and “babe” and discussed the investigation with her.  

Court documents state the girl was found to be approximately 18 weeks pregnant. Investigators noted that based on the pregnancy timeline, she would have been 14 years old when she became pregnant.  

During an interview with detectives, Oliver allegedly admitted the girl had been living with him since February or March 2026 and acknowledged having a sexual relationship with her. Investigators stated Oliver gave conflicting statements throughout the interview and eventually admitted the last sexual encounter occurred about two weeks before his arrest.  

Lodged in the Lake County Jail.
