Andriana Velencia Norwood, 33, of Gary, is accused of fraudulently processing more than $1,000 in merchandise returns while employed at Macy’s in Hobart.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Hobart police responded on January 14, 2026, after Macy’s asset protection personnel reported an employee had been apprehended in the asset protection office in connection with an alleged theft investigation.
Investigators allege Macy’s asset protection personnel determined Norwood completed three fraudulent merchandise returns on January 10 and January 11, 2026. According to court documents, no customers were present during the transactions, which allegedly resulted in $1,017.56 in merchandise-only store credit certificates.
Court documents state Macy’s asset protection personnel told police Norwood admitted she had been going through hard times and intended to use the merchandise-only certificates.
