David W. Boddorf, 60, of Michigan City, is facing a child molesting charge following an investigation into an alleged incident involving an 8-year-old girl.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the child participated in a forensic interview on June 29, 2026, and reported an incident she said occurred several years earlier involving Boddorf. The child said she was approximately 8 years old at the time, with investigators placing the alleged incident sometime between August 2022 and January 2023.

The child told investigators the alleged incident occurred at a residence in Michigan City. She said she went into Boddorf’s bedroom because she believed he was watching anime and she liked anime. According to the affidavit, the child asked Boddorf if she could watch with him, and he allegedly agreed and patted his lap, indicating for her to sit on it.

The child alleged that after she sat on Boddorf’s lap, he used her hand to touch his genitals over his clothing. She said Boddorf was wearing thin black sweatpants and estimated the alleged incident lasted approximately five minutes.

The child told investigators the incident felt “weird” and that she did not like it. She said she did not know what to say because she was young and was afraid Boddorf might not stop if she told him to. The child said the incident ended when she got off his lap and left the room.

According to court documents, the child later disclosed the alleged incident at school during a presentation about body safety and saying no to inappropriate or harmful conduct. She reportedly raised her hand when asked whether anyone had experienced something inappropriate and explained what allegedly happened. The school subsequently reported the incident.
