Keith A. Bretthorst, 45, of Gary, has been charged after investigators alleged he sold methamphetamine on multiple occasions before a search warrant uncovered additional drugs and drug paraphernalia at his residence.

According to court documents, investigators documented alleged methamphetamine sales at a trailer in the 1900 block of West Ridge Road in Gary between May 31 and June 6, during which approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine was allegedly sold. Court records state investigators documented another alleged sale between June 11 and June 18, during which approximately 1.9 grams of methamphetamine was allegedly sold.

According to court documents, investigators executed a search warrant at the residence on June 24. Bretthorst was taken into custody after being observed exiting the trailer.

Court records state investigators recovered approximately 4.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine from the living room, approximately 4.3 grams of suspected marijuana from a bedroom, two glass pipes containing suspected drug residue, a marijuana grinder and two cell phones.

According to court documents, Bretthorst admitted he lived at the residence. During an interview, investigators allege he stated he does not sell narcotics and instead “gives” them to friends. Court records also state he admitted using his cell phones to initiate narcotics transactions.

Lodged in the Lake County Jail.
