East Chicago Police Investigating Homicide At Gas Station
On Sunday, January 8, 2023 at approximately 6:00 PM, East Chicago Officers responded to shots fired in the area of 4502 Indianapolis Blvd, according to East Chicago Police Chief Jose Rivera. Shotspotter indicated 12 rounds were fired behind the BP Gas Station.
Upon arrival officers located an unresponsive male in the rear of the BP Gas Station. The victim suffered 2 gunshot wounds to the chest area and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Kelley Holmes, 26, from an unknown address.
The EC Criminal Investigation Division, Crime Scene Investigators and Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
