Deceased Male Found Near McDonald’s Dumpster
At approximately 6:36 AM, Sunday, May 21, 2023, Highland Police were dispatched to McDonald’s, 3904 Ridge Road, for a unresponsive male who was found on the ground next to the dumpster.
On arrival, the male was found to be deceased. The deceased was a African American male who was in his late teens, Highland Police told RNS.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene to assist in the investigation and for the removal of the deceased.
The deceased was identified as Roy Jamael Hegwood, 19, of Gary. Manner of death is pending autopsy.
This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the general public. The investigation is ongoing.
