Kathy Angelica Pineda Moncada, 39, of Hammond, allegedly bit two Schererville police officers while resisting arrest at a restaurant Friday evening.

According to court documents, Schererville Police responded to Cooper’s Hawk restaurant at approximately 7:20 p.m. Aug. 28 following a report of an intoxicated woman inside the establishment.

The restaurant was reportedly attempting to arrange a rideshare for Pineda Moncada, but she allegedly refused and insisted on driving.

Police said Pineda Moncada refused to leave the bar and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. When an officer attempted to escort her outside, she allegedly pushed his arm away.

Another officer took Pineda Moncada to the ground as she resisted being handcuffed, according to the probable cause affidavit. Police said she was warned several times that a Taser would be used if she continued resisting before an officer applied a drive stun.

During the struggle, Pineda Moncada allegedly bit one officer on the right hand near his thumb, causing pain, swelling and bleeding. She then allegedly bit a second officer on the right calf, causing pain.

The second officer also reportedly injured his right ring finger during the struggle.

After being secured, Pineda Moncada was escorted from the restaurant and placed inside a police SUV. Police said she continued being uncooperative while she was transported to the Lake County Jail.
