Woman Shot and Airlifted In Gary Friday Afternoon
A report of a gun shot victim came in Friday afternoon around 3pm on the 4800 block of Monroe in Gary. When police arrived they found a female with gun shot wound to the leg. Police asked paramedics to step it up because of the bleeding. Gary Fire Department transported the female to Northlake where she was later airlifted to a Chicago Hospital due to the amount of blood loss. Her condition is unknown at this time. Sources close to the investigation state the bullet hit a main artery. This was an apparent domestic incident and there is no threat to the public. Charges are currently being pursued and we hope to have more on this early this week.
Update – The victim is in critical condition at the University of Chicago according to Lt. Pawlak of the Gary Police. Charges have been filed against Larry Easter of Gary, According to Lt. Pawlak, Easter was charged with aggravated battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious injury, battery when assault poses substantial risk of death and domestic battery. Easter is currently being held at the Lake County Jail.
