Calumet City House Fire Saturday

Calumet City Fire Department responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon shortly after 1:30pm. An original caller said they saw smoke in the area a couple blocks away but fire crews discovered the house fire on the 1100 block of Pulaski Road a few houses down from the Police Station, Chief Glenn Bachert told RNS. The fire is believed to have started an upstairs bedroom while the residents were not home, Police say. The homeowners dog got loose as firefighters made entry but was later found.

Fire crews from Calumet City, South Holland, Thornton responded to the scene. One firefighter was taken to Franciscan Hammond with smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
