Gary Police Investigating Juvenile Killed Friday
On July 17, 2020 approximately 6:26 PM the Gary Police Department responded to the area of East 8th Avenue and Kentucky Street for a call of shots fired with a man down on scene, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of The Gary Police. Upon arrival officers discovered a juvenile male black in the rear of a residence with apparent gunshot wounds, Westerfield stated. The male was found to be unresponsive by medics and later declared deceased on scene by the Lake County Coroner office.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Traeshaun Toney, 14, of Gary.
