Violent Offender Wanted By US Marshal Arrested In EC
Wednesday at 9:20am Officer B. Holzhauer of The East Chicago Police Department was flagged down by a female in front of 5004 Northcote. The female stated that a male subject by the name of Eric Ozuna broke out the front window of her residence after an argument over a cellphone.
Officer Holzhauer made contact with the suspect who was still on scene. Suspect was uncooperative and fled on foot. Numerous Patrol Officers arrived on scene and formed a perimeter in the area. A short time later Sgt. E Hernandez spotted the suspect on the 4900 block of Homerlee. Sgt. Hernandez was able to apprehend the suspect with minimal resistance.
The suspect was charged with Criminal Mischief and Resisting Law Enforcement. Suspect was also wanted by the U.S. Marshall's for weapon offenses. The U.S. Marshall's warrant stated the suspect was to be considered armed & dangerous.
Suspect is currently being held in East Chicago jail pending extradition from the U.S. Marshall's.
