Hammond Police Investigating Armed Home Invasions

Early Monday morning shortly after midnight Hammond Police responded to at least two separate armed home invasions. First call came in on the 2200 block of 167th in the Woodmar neighborhood and then another shortly after on Tennessee Ave according to radio traffic. Victims reported a male black came in through a kitchen window and held them by gun point and demanded cash and cleared a safe of guns. 

The intruder is described to RNS as a black male about 5’9-5’10, 160 -170 pounds, thin. Dark pants, gray hoodie, with the sleeves and hood being darker either black or dark blue.

Hammond Police will be providing more details this morning. We will update this article through out the day as information is received.

  1. How is this thief aware of gun ownership of the victims? Either he has access to foid records or gun purchase records at Cabala’s. These are not random robberies.

    1. Or since we don’t have all the details, it could also mean that as he’s robbing people, he’s coming across the other valuables to take.
