Lansing Man Struck By Vehicle And Killed In Calumet City

On October 29th at approximately 6:41 AM, Calumet City Police and EMS personnel responded to the intersection of Sibley Boulevard and Siganaw Avenue for a report of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian, according to Calumet City Police Chief Chris Fletcher.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 34 year old Lansing man now identified as Shawn Alexander lying in the street. Alexander had sustained multiple injuries from the collision and was immediately transported by the Calumet City Fire Department to St Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond for medical treatment. Alexander was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with this investigation. The Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (S.M.A.R.T) responded to help Calumet City Police with the accident investigation.
