One Dead After Hammond Shooting

In the early hours of February 10, at approximately 1:30 AM, the Hammond Police Department responded to a report of a shooting victim at Munster Community Hospital. Upon arrival, officers engaged with a witness who reported the incident occurred in the 1300 block of Sherman Street in Hammond. A white sedan could be seen at the entrance of the ER riddled with bullet holes in the hood and windshield. A crime scene was established at this location.

Preliminary findings revealed the presence of shell casings at the scene on Sherman Street. The investigation indicates that the victim was meeting with another individual when a gunfire exchange ensued. Subsequently, the victim was transported to the hospital by their brother. The victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victim has not been released at the time of this posting.
