Rumors Fly As Shops On The Magnificent Mile Get Boarded Up

A viral image going around today on social media has many worried and rumors flying. The image shows construction workers boarding up a storefront on The Magnificent Mile. Region News reached out to this specific store (Sephora) for comment on the board up. The company told RNS, “The health and safety of our employees, their families, and the community is our first priority, and to adapt to the rapidly changing situation related to coronavirus (COVID-19), we have closed all SEPHORA stores across the U.S and Canada through Friday, April 3rd. In accordance with our protocols for temporary store closures, we have standardized precautions to protect our properties across North America.  Our goal is to ensure a great experience for our clients when we have the opportunity to re-open our stores. For more information on our closure statement, please visit sephora.com “ This is to protect the properties while the store remains closed, Spokeswoman for Sephora stated. This is not unique to just this city.

With Illinois Governor Pritzker preparing to make a statement at 3pm Friday for a possible “Shelter in Place order,” a lot of people are confusing this with Martial Law. Residents in other states are advised to only go out for essential travel such as work, gas, and groceries. Residents will be able to travel on roads & highways as well as go for a walk outside if desired. Elected officials are advising to keep social distance however. The exact details will be released this afternoon.
