Teen Shot In His Apartment
The Gary Police Department is investigating the November 22, 2023, shooting of a 14-year-old Gary male. The incident occurred at his home in the 5800 block of Forest Court at approximately 12 PM, while his mother was visiting a next-door neighbor.
The mother told the police that she was told several versions of what occurred by the juveniles. The police believe there were several young males in the apartment visiting her son. One known subject brought a gun with him and shot the woman’s son. At this time, it is not known if the act was accidental or intentional. The shooter fled the scene, police stated.
The victim was transported to Northlake Methodist Hospital and then transported to a hospital in Chicago.
