Fatal Vehicle Crash Near Valpo
On Saturday, 11/25/2023, at approximately 12:59 AM, Porter County Sheriff’s Officers were dispatched to the area of Sturdy Rd & Martinal Rd (Valparaiso / Center Township) in reference to a single-vehicle crash with the vehicle in the ditch, according to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 1:03 AM, Officers arrived on-scene and found the female driver and sole occupant had unfortunately passed away.
Initial Investigation shows she was traveling north on Sturdy Rd north of the intersection with Martinal Rd. in a 2011 Chevy Malibu. When for unknown reasons at this time she went into the ditch on the east side of the road where she struck a tree.
The female driver was identified as 20-year-old Selena Ruiz of Wheatfield, according to the Porter County Coroner. Autopsy and toxicology are pending.
