Two Pedestrians Hit By Train In Schererville

On Saturday, 11-27-21, at approximately 10:10 PM Schererville Police & Fire were dispatched to the area of Eagle Ridge Dr and 213th Ave in regards to a train vs pedestrian accident, according to Commander Kevin Wagner.

Upon arrival Officers located two adult males that were struck by a Canadian National train which stopped. A vehicle possibly belonging to the two was found next to Villa Banquet Hall in the Teibel Nature Park parking lot area. Firefighters and police used ATV’s to get about 1/4 mile west of this crossing where the actual scene was located at. Both subjects were transported to a local hospital.  Lifestar Loyola helicopter was on the way to the hospital to transport one of those subjects to Chicago for further treatment, Wagner stated.

New information coming in Sunday morning says possibly 10 adults were near the tracks when this incident occurred, two of which are the injured parties. The relationship of the adults is that they were fraternity brothers. Police have not confirmed at this point if this was a Fraternity initiation possibly.

Schererville Detectives and Railroad Police are currently on scene investigating.
