UPDATE – Man That Hit Officers Identified and Now Faces Attempted Murder Charges

Lake Station Police made an arrest of an alleged armed carjacker suspect from Chicago Sunday night after police pulled up on a car stopped in the middle of the road around 9:45 PM. 

The carjacked Silver Buick which was taken around 5 Sunday in Chicago, occupied once by the driver quickly fled from the Lake Station Officer leading to a brief pursuit through Lake Station. The suspect rammed one squad car during the incident before he was taken into custody, Lake Station Police Chief James Richardson told RNS. The pursuit ended on 2700 Central in Lake Station at Lake Station Gas Stop.  The officer was not injured during the incident but later suffered from some minor bruising and a laceration to his finger, Richardson added.  The suspect also had numerous credit cards on his person with three different names, court records showed.

The suspect now identified as Dandre Hunter was taken into custody and charged with 10 Felonies listed below:

Two Counts of Attempted Murder 

Two Counts of Battery By Means Of A Deadly Weapon 

Two Counts of Battery Resulting In Injury To A Public Safety Official 

Two Counts of Criminal Recklessness 

Two Counts of Resisting Law Enforcement
