Update On La Porte Shooting That Left One Killed and Other Hospitalized
On 3/28/20 at approximately 6:57 pm, La Porte City Officers were dispatched to the 1400 Block of Jefferson Ave. in reference to reports of shots fired, Police stated. Upon arrival, Officers encountered two victims, both sustaining gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to the La Porte Hospital. One victim passed away at the hospital from his injuries and the other victim is currently in stable condition at the La Porte hospital, LaPorte Police said Monday.
A suspect was taken into custody that same night and has been charged accordingly. At this time there is no immediate threat to the community and it appears this was an isolated incident. The La Porte City Police would like to thank the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police for their assistance in this case. The La Porte City Police is asking that no one speculate on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and that further details will be released when they can be as to not compromise the integrity of the case.
