The Porter County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection to a shooting that occurred earlier this week in Center Township.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Dezmond Garcia (DOB: 01/06/2007), of Valparaiso, has been taken into custody and is facing the following charges:
- Attempted Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony)
- Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony)
- Criminal Recklessness (Level 5 Felony)
- Battery (Class B Misdemeanor)

ORIGINAL INCIDENT DETAILS:
On the evening of the incident, deputies were dispatched at approximately 8:25 p.m. to 3550 State Road 2 in Center Township for a reported battery.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
