Gamone D. Hardy, 37, also known as Garard G. Hardy, of Chicago Heights, Illinois, is facing multiple felony charges after police say he was found with drugs packaged for sale and fled on foot during a traffic stop.

According to court documents, a Lake County Sheriff’s officer conducted a traffic stop on April 29, 2026, near Richard Gordon Hatcher Boulevard and 19th Avenue after observing a vehicle traveling 49 mph in a 35 mph zone and displaying an expired license plate.

During the stop, the officer reported smelling the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. When asked about marijuana, Hardy held up what was described as the burnt end of a blunt.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a black bag around Hardy’s neck containing multiple controlled substances. Inside the bag, officers reported finding approximately 94 grams of marijuana, 13 individually packaged baggies of a white rock-like substance weighing about 2.2 grams that field-tested positive for cocaine, and approximately 5.2 grams of pills that tested positive for MDMA.

Police noted the packaging of the substances was consistent with intent to deliver.

According to the affidavit, when officers attempted to take Hardy into custody, he fled on foot before being apprehended and subdued with a Taser.

While being transported to jail, Hardy admitted his identity and acknowledged previously using the alias Garard Hardy.

Court records indicate Hardy has a prior conviction for dealing a controlled substance in Cook County, Illinois.

Lodged in the Lake County Hail.
