Megan Ann Manoski, 48, is facing criminal charges after school officials reported her 15-year-old child accumulated more than 67 unexcused absences during the 2025-26 school year.

According to court documents, school officials reported the student had accumulated 67.6 unexcused absences during the current school year. Investigators said Manoski was listed as the student’s primary guardian in the school system.

Court documents state the student allegedly told school officials a previous educational neglect case from the 2024-25 school year had recently concluded and that her mother “only had to pay $400.00.”

According to the affidavit, Manoski allegedly contacted school officials following spring break and stated “she knew it was bad timing, but her family had planned vacation for Great Wolf Lodge” before removing the student from school for multiple additional days. School officials reportedly advised Manoski was aware the student already had more than 50 unexcused absences and several failing grades at the time.

Court documents state school officials attempted on several occasions to arrange in-person attendance conferences, but the meetings were reportedly canceled multiple times. Investigators said attendance letters documenting the fifth, seventh and ninth unexcused absences had also been mailed to the residence.

Police noted Manoski had previously been charged in Lowell Town Court in April 2025 after the same student allegedly accumulated 38.92 unexcused absences during the prior school year.

Lodged in the Lake County Jail on May 8,2026.
