Zachary Isaiah Hope, 24, of Niles, Michigan, has been charged in Porter Superior Court after allegedly threatening multiple family members during an incident at a residence in the 5100 block of Boulder Avenue in Portage.
Police allege the incident occurred on June 15 after Hope was not allowed back into the residence. According to court records, several family members told investigators that Hope became angry when he was refused entry into the home.
Court documents state Hope allegedly threatened multiple occupants of the residence, telling them that if he was not let back inside, he would “shoot up the house and put bullet in everyone’s head.” Investigators reported receiving similar statements from multiple family members who said they heard the threat.
According to court records, investigators separately interviewed Hope’s relatives, all of whom reported hearing the same threat. Police allege the statements indicated Hope threatened to commit a forcible felony against those inside the residence.
Lodged in the Porter County Jail.
