Vernon James Henninger, 45, of Gary, is facing multiple felony drug charges following a Gary Police Department investigation into alleged cocaine and fentanyl dealing from a residence in the 5500 block of East 4th Avenue.
According to court documents, police conducted an investigation into reported drug activity during November and December 2025. Investigators alleged Henninger sold substances later determined to contain cocaine and fentanyl during separate drug transactions in November and December.
Court documents state one substance recovered during the investigation weighed 1.06 grams and field-tested positive for both cocaine and fentanyl. Investigators stated another substance recovered during the investigation weighed 1.32 grams and also field-tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl.
According to court documents, police later obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence in the 5500 block of East 4th Avenue on Dec. 11, 2025. Investigators stated Henninger was located inside the home during the warrant execution.
Court documents state police recovered two black handguns, two revolvers, an Ishapore firearm, 2.86 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately 62.12 grams of suspected marijuana from the residence.
Investigators also stated the combined amount of suspected fentanyl allegedly involved in the investigation totaled 2.38 grams.
Lodged in the Lake County Jail on May 7,2026.
