James Robert Elliott, 46, of Gary, is facing multiple felony drug charges after police alleged he sold more than 20 grams of methamphetamine during two separate drug transactions tied to a property in the 4400 block of Colfax Street.
According to court documents, police investigated reports of methamphetamine sales occurring at the property during March 2026. Police alleged Elliott sold more than 10 grams of methamphetamine during a transaction that occurred between March 1 and March 7, 2026. Court documents state two baggies containing crystal-like substance weighing more than 10 grams later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Investigators alleged Elliott later sold more than 10 additional grams of methamphetamine during another transaction that occurred between March 14 and March 20, 2026. According to the affidavit, two additional baggies containing crystal-like substance weighing more than 10 grams field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Court documents state police later obtained and executed a search warrant at the property on March 24, 2026. Elliott was allegedly located inside an RV parked next to the residence during the search. Police said the search warrant included the residence, RV and vehicles located on the property.
According to the affidavit, investigators recovered approximately 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale from the kitchen area of the RV. Police also allegedly located approximately 1.6 grams of cocaine inside the RV bathroom.
Investigators further alleged they located a large bag containing several smaller zip-lock baggies inside a rear bedroom area of the RV. Court documents state police also recovered a funnel containing crystal-like residue investigators believed was used in the packaging and distribution of methamphetamine, along with a glass pipe investigators believed was used to ingest controlled substances.
According to court documents, marijuana-content edibles and another digital scale were also recovered from the kitchen area of the main residence. Mail addressed to Elliott was reportedly located inside the RV.
Police alleged the methamphetamine recovered during the search was possessed with the intent to deliver based on the alleged prior methamphetamine sales, digital scales, packaging materials and funnel recovered during the investigation.
