HEBRON — Joshua Salinas was arrested by the Hebron Police Department on June 4, 2026, after officers discovered he was wanted on an active felony warrant from Illinois for Burglary and Retail Theft.

The arrest comes just days after Salinas was arrested by the Hebron Police Department in connection with multiple felony theft investigations involving Walgreens stores and a subsequent incident that resulted in a charge of Felony Fleeing Law Enforcement. Despite being released from jail earlier this week after his arrest by the Hebron Police Department, Salinas was taken back into custody by the same agency only days later.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on June 4, 2026, Salinas arrived at the Hebron Police Department to obtain the release of his vehicle from impound. During the transaction, the department’s records clerk conducted a records check and discovered Salinas was wanted on an active felony warrant from Illinois for Burglary and Retail Theft. The records clerk immediately notified officers of the outstanding warrant.

Information associated with the warrant indicated Salinas should be considered armed and dangerous. Assistant Chief Sejda requested additional officers respond to the police department to assist with taking Salinas into custody. Before officers could make contact with him regarding the warrant, Salinas became suspicious and left the police department.

Given the seriousness of the felony warrant, Salinas’ recent Felony Fleeing Law Enforcement charge, and information indicating he may be armed and dangerous, officers acted quickly to prevent another flight from justice and to minimize any potential threat to public safety.

Assistant Chief Sejda, along with Porter County Sheriff’s Department Officer Dicky and Officer Stanley, located Salinas and strategically boxed in his vehicle using police vehicles. The tactic prevented Salinas from fleeing and allowed officers to safely take him into custody without further incident.

Salinas was transported to the Porter County Jail, where he is being held pending extradition proceedings to Illinois.

Salinas is also a documented member of the Latin Kings street gang.

“This arrest is the direct result of alert personnel, proactive police work, and strong cooperation between agencies,” said Hebron Police Department officials. “When officers are presented with the opportunity to safely apprehend a wanted fugitive—particularly one facing felony charges, identified as armed and dangerous, and with a recent history of fleeing law enforcement—we will take decisive action to protect our community.”

The Hebron Police Department would like to specifically thank Porter County Sheriff’s Department Officer Dicky and Officer Stanley for their assistance, as well as all personnel involved in the apprehension of Salinas. Their professionalism, teamwork, and swift response ensured that a wanted fugitive was safely taken into custody before he had the opportunity to evade law enforcement again.

The Hebron Police Department remains committed to holding repeat offenders accountable and keeping dangerous criminals off our streets.
