Former Town Judge Sentenced For Possession Of Child Pornography

Robert McMahon, 32, of Crown Point, Indiana was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon on his plea of guilty to possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.

McMahon who once held the role of an attorney, deputy prosecutor, and town judge in Lake & Porter Counties originally plead not guilty to the charges. McMahon served as the judge pro-tempore for the Town of Lowell from Feb. 24, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020.

McMahon was sentenced today to 24 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release. 

According to documents filed in the case, between March 2019, and August 2021, McMahon possessed images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct including images of at least one minor under the age of 12. 

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Indiana State Police and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s office in Wisconsin. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas M. McGrath.
