Brooke Mackenzie Arndt, 20, of Valparaiso, is facing charges after an incident at Northwest Health – Porter.
According to court documents, on April 15, 2026, at approximately 7:07 p.m., officers were called regarding an incident at the hospital located at 85 East U.S. Highway 6 in Valparaiso.
A nurse, who was engaged in her official capacity as a health care provider, reported that Arndt had come into the hospital for a headache but “became impatient and agitated due to waiting for results and treatment” and chose to leave against medical advice prior to discharge.
Court records state that while in the emergency room lobby, Arndt attempted to return through secured doors to re-enter the emergency room. The nurse told Arndt she was not allowed back inside, at which point Arndt “continued to push past” the nurse, grabbing and scratching her left bicep, and then struck her in the left side of the head with a phone that Arndt had in her right hand.
The nurse was reported to have redness on her left inner bicep and complained of head pain following the incident.
According to the affidavit, Arndt later told officers she had been waiting for about an hour and a half, became impatient, and decided to leave. She admitted she attempted to return to the emergency room to be with her mother and admitted to pushing the nurse.
Lodged in the Porter County Jail.
