Logan Todd Miles, 27, of Hobart, is facing two felony child solicitation charges following an investigation in Portage involving the NWI Predator Catchers group.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Portage Police were called to a child solicitation investigation on August 9, 2026. Police said a member of NWI Predator Catchers reported that a 27-year-old man had agreed to meet and engage in sexual behavior with a person he allegedly believed was a 13-year-old girl.

Court documents state police reviewed messages associated with the investigation and determined there was sufficient information to take Miles into custody. He was transported to the Portage Police Department, where police said he agreed to an interview after being advised of his Miranda rights and signing a waiver.

During that interview, Miles allegedly told investigators he added a female using the profile name “Sam” on Snapchat approximately three or four weeks earlier. According to the affidavit, Miles said he was told early in their conversations that “Sam” was “thirteen going on fourteen.”

Police said Miles acknowledged continuing to communicate with the decoy despite being told that age. According to court documents, the conversations became sexual, and Miles allegedly continued discussing sexual activity even though he acknowledged the age difference.

The affidavit further alleges Miles sent an image of an erect nude penis during the conversations. Miles later told investigators the image was not of him and that he had found it online. Police said Miles acknowledged what he was doing was “wrong and inappropriate” but continued anyway.

Miles gave investigators a different explanation for why he traveled to the meeting location, according to the affidavit. Police said Miles claimed he was only going to meet “Sam” to confirm her age because he did not believe she was being truthful about being 13 based on photographs she had sent him. He allegedly told investigators he believed she could be older.

Miles also told investigators he had no intention of having a sexual encounter and claimed he was simply stopping to meet the decoy while on his way to work.

Police said Miles was located at approximately 2:19 p.m. in the 3200 block of Spinnaker in Portage. According to a separate probable cause affidavit, an officer conducting the child solicitation investigation saw Miles pass the location in a white 2019 Ram 1500 and conducted a traffic stop. The officer instructed Miles to exit the vehicle.

Police said Miles initially exited the vehicle but refused when instructed to turn around to be detained. According to the affidavit, an officer grabbed Miles’ right arm and attempted to turn him around, but Miles allegedly planted his feet and refused to comply. The affidavit states Miles then pressed against the side of his vehicle before another officer assisted in taking him to the ground and securing him in handcuffs.

One officer suffered an injury to his left thumb during the incident and sought medical treatment.
