The Porter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a battery with shots being fired that occurred at a residence in the 1700 Block of Liberty Avenue, in Pine Township.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:01 p.m. As a result of this disturbance, one male juvenile has passed away and one 18-year-old female and another male juvenile were also shot.
This appears to be an isolated incident and we do not believe there is an on-going threat to public safety at this time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Messages to Region News described this being a prom party where kids from a nearby community were gathered together.
