Michelle V. Madonna, 30, and Edward William Yarbrough, 44, both of DeMotte, are facing felony animal cruelty charges after authorities say two dogs were found dead inside a crate and a third was discovered severely malnourished at a Lake Village residence.

According to court documents, Newton County deputies responded to the 10 Oaks Trailer Park in Lake Village on Aug. 21 for welfare checks after Madonna and Yarbrough reportedly had not been seen for more than a month.

During the investigation, deputies said two deceased dogs were found locked inside a dog crate along with a third dog that was severely malnourished. Animal control took possession of the surviving dog and later advised investigators that the animal was euthanized due to its quality of life, according to the affidavits.

Investigators allege Madonna and Yarbrough knowingly and intentionally abandoned and neglected the three dogs, resulting in their deaths.
