64 Year Old Female Shot In Gary Driving
On July 22, 2020 approximately 4:02 PM the Gary Police Department responded to reports of a gunshot victim int the area of East 5th Avenue and Kentucky Street, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield of The Gary Police. The victim a white female, 64 years old, was traveling Eastbound on 5th Avenue when passed on the right shoulder by a gray SUV. The female moved to the center lane and continued. As the female attempted to merge back into the right lane the gray SUV sped up next to the passenger side of her vehicle and fired three rounds into the victim’s vehicle, Westerfield stated. All three rounds struck the victim’s vehicle and one round struck the female in the leg. The suspect vehicle then fled south on Kentucky Street. The female was transported to the area hospital by ambulance and is listed in stable condition at this time.
The suspect is described as a black male with prescription glasses driving a gray SUV that is believed to be a 2015 or newer model.
