Jamille Leron Walker, 32, of Park Forest, Illinois, is charged in Porter County following an investigation into an armed home invasion and robbery that occurred on the LaPorte Avenue area in Valparaiso.
According to court documents, on September 19, 2024, officers were dispatched after suspects forced entry into a residence through a window, shattering the glass inward and prying access to the home. A broken flathead screwdriver was recovered near the point of entry.
Police reported the suspects entered the home, robbed the residents at gunpoint, zip tied them behind their backs, and fled out the rear of the residence.
The victim told police he awoke around 6:00 a.m. to two individuals pointing pistols at his head and directing him out of bed. The suspects demanded to know where “the money and guns” were located and forced him to open a safe.
Court documents state the suspects took approximately $2,300 to $3,000 in cash, along with ammunition. One of the suspects also took the victim’s firearm, described as a blue and white Canik Mete SFT 9mm, and used it during the incident.
The victims were zip tied and placed on the floor while the suspects continued demanding additional money. The victim sustained visible injuries to his head, and both victims reported bruising, redness, and pain.
Investigators noted the suspects appeared to target the residence, going directly to a safe and referencing social media posts about large amounts of money. The suspects used a laundry basket to carry items from the home before fleeing.
Surveillance footage captured two individuals returning to a black SUV and leaving the area shortly after the incident. The vehicle was later identified as a black Mercedes-Benz registered to Walker. License plate reader data and cell phone records placed Walker traveling from the Park Forest, Illinois area to Valparaiso during the early morning hours of the robbery.
