Fatal Crash Saturday Night In Hammond
On October 2, 2021 at approximately 11:55 PM, Hammond police were dispatched to the intersection of Indianapolis Boulevard and Calumet Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle accident, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police.
Investigators arrived and located a Toyota 4-Runner which witnesses said struck a barrier. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the accident and the nature of the victim’s death.
The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Douglas Charles Jones from Warsaw, IN. The Lake County Coroner is seeking the next of kin for Mr. Jones. Anyone with information regarding the decedent can call the Lake County Coroner’s Office at 219-755-3265.
