ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS FOR POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE 

Illinois State Police (ISP) Troopers arrested Travis Williams, a 21-year-old male from Chicago, IL for Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, three counts of Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Wanted on Warrant. Troopers also arrested Shawnyall Clair, a 23-year-old male from Chicago, IL for Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and three counts of Fleeing and Eluding.

On March 26, 2022 at approximately 10:51 p.m., Troopers assigned to the Statewide Anti-Violence Enforcement Unit (S.A.V.E.) located a stolen vehicle that was wanted in connection to a recent armed robbery in Olympia Fields, IL. Troopers initiated a traffic stop in the area of 87th Street at State Street in Chicago, but the suspect vehicle fled, and a pursuit began. The suspect vehicle became disabled and the driver fled on foot before getting into a second stolen vehicle. The second vehicle was involved in a crash with another vehicle on Interstate 94 northbound near Sibley Street, and two individuals, Williams and Clair, were taken into custody and transported to an area hospital with injuries from the crash. Three occupants from the vehicle that was struck by the suspect vehicle were also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles flipped. A firearm was recovered in the first stolen vehicle.
