Reckless Driver Wrecks After Trooper Gives Chase

On May 14, 2020, at approximately 3:25 AM Trooper William Carlson was stationary on the inside shoulder of I-80 eastbound near Kennedy Avenue.  Trooper Carlson observed a vehicle eastbound traveling at a high rate of speed as well as weaving in and out of traffic.  He measured the vehicle’s speed at 100 mph in a posted 55 mph zone and identified it as a dark Chrysler Sedan.  The vehicle increased speed and continued to weave in and out of traffic once Trooper Carlson pulled into traffic.  Trooper Carlson caught up to the vehicle near Cline Avenue and activated his emergency lights and siren.  The vehicle drove through the gore area as it increased speed onto the Cline Avenue northbound ramp. The vehicle failed to negotiate the curve and spun out.  Trooper Carlson pulled next to the vehicle and exited his police vehicle while giving loud commands to the driver.  The driver followed the Troopers requests, turned off the vehicle, and exited.  He was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as Eric Lymore (25 years old) from Dolton, Illinois.  Mr. Lymore was transported to the Lake County Jail for Resisting Law Enforcement, and Reckless Driving.

Assisting at the scene was Trooper William Stancy.  The vehicle was impounded by Bert’s Towing.
