Sean P. Martin, 37, of Goodland, is facing multiple charges following an incident in Jasper County.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 12, 2026 at approximately 8:56 p.m., deputies responded to the area of U.S. 231 and 1600 South in Jasper County for a report of a domestic between a male and female. The caller, identified as the male’s mother, advised she was on the phone with the female when “he hit her and then laid down in the roadway.”

Between 9:16 p.m. and 9:17 p.m., three 911 calls were placed advising of a male in the roadway nearly being struck by traffic. Deputies arrived on scene at approximately 9:24 p.m. and observed Martin in the roadway before he ran back to and got into the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in a driveway.

Court documents state Martin was “extremely agitated” and was ordered out of the vehicle before being detained in handcuffs and read his Miranda warning.

The female told police that while she was driving, Martin “hit her in the face and knocked her glasses off her face.” She then pulled over near a truck stop along U.S. 231 and Martin got out of the vehicle and began walking in the roadway. The female also stated she was pregnant, and Martin admitted several times he knew she was pregnant, according to the affidavit.

The suspect’s mother told police she was on the phone with the female and heard Martin yelling at and insulting her before hearing him strike her, followed by the female saying she could not see without her glasses.

Martin was placed under arrest for obstructing traffic and domestic battery. During a search incident to arrest, deputies located a tan-colored cloth bag in his left pants pocket containing two syringes and four syringe caps. Martin stated the syringes were for diabetes; however, both the female and his mother told officers he does not have diabetes, according to court documents.
