Fatal Fire In Crown Point Saturday
On January 25 , at 12:03pm, Crown Point Fire and Police Departments responded to 754 Trenton St. in Briarwood Subdivision in reference to a reported house fire at that location, Crown Point Police Chief Pete Land stated, As responding units arrived at the scene, the rear of the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. Fire personnel ultimately extinguished the fire. While conducting a search of the house, a deceased female was discovered near the living room, Land stated. Currently, the exact cause of death is unknown.
Crown Point Police and Fire Departments are being assisted in the scene investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office as well as the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
“Although we believe the female victim is the resident of the home, we cannot confirm her identity at this point. We will also be working with the State Fire Marshall to determine the source of the fire,” Land said.
UPDATE – The victim has now been identified by the Lake County Coroner as Jenny Tomson, 45, of Crown Point.
