Porter County Bomb Squad Responds To Hammond

On January 25th, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Hammond Police were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Spruce Street in reference to a family member finding a suspicious item inside the home, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police. The male resident who lived in the home recently passed away and family members located a box with some wires sticking out of it, Kellogg stated. For security measures, police contacted the Porter County Bomb Squad to inspect the item. The bomb unit confirmed that no explosives were present, Kellogg told Region News. Hammond Police would like to thank the Porter County Bomb Squad for their quick response and expertise during this incident.
