Fire Crews Respond To Garage Fire While Fighting Brush Fire

Saturday evening while South Haven, Union Township, Hobart, And Porter Fire were working the fatal brush fire, South Haven was dispatched at 4:24PM to Juniper Road for a possible residential fire, according to Deputy Chief Cotton of The South Haven Fire Department.

Liberty Fire Department was covering South Haven while crews were at the brush fire and were first on scene with a fully involved garage fire spreading to the residence. South Haven crews finished at the brush fire and responded along with Union, Burns Harbor, Portage, Porter County Sheriff, and Boone Grove standing by at South Haven’s station for coverage. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the residence and contained mainly to the garage and surrounding area.

The fire was marked as struck at 4:57 pm and the investigation team began their investigation at that time. The cause is still yet to be determined, Cotton said.
