If you were driving in Gary today, chances are you saw a heavy Police presence. Gary Police were out conducting “Saturation Patrols” to combat a violent week after numerous shootings occurred in the city. Friday morning was the latest shooting where a 68-year-old male was shot in his temple while sitting in his home on the 4100 block of Harrison. He was later airlifted to a Chicago Trauma Center.

Gary Police Commander Jack Hamady told RNS, multiple divisions were out in force today including Gary PD, SWAT, MAG Units, Detectives, and Lake County Sheriff High Crime Units. All the details of the patrol were not immediately available this evening as units were still targeting hot spots in the city. However Hamady stated, multiple warrant arrests were made already this afternoon.
